VBITG: Tofu Scramble

Vegan but it tastes good! This is a quick and classic tofu scramble recipe. Contains Soy.

avocado toast, potatoes, and OJ

Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Chop the tofu and use a fork to crumble it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Turn stove to medium high heat and coat pan in oil
  3. Prep all your spices into a small mix
  4. Add tofu then spices into pan.
  5. Mix for 5 minutes and make sure pan keeps small oil coating to prevent burning/sticking of tofu to pan. Add a bit more oil if pan is dry!
  6. At this point you have runny style tofu scramble. For a fluffy and slightly golden-brown style (as I prefer) leave each side on for an extra 3 minutes.
Step 1 is always make sure you have all the ingredients!
When you cut the tofu all that matters is that you mash it with the fork so it looks scrambled 🙂
Coat your pan in oil. You don’t NEED cast iron but I love using it!
Add the tofu in keeping your oil and spice mix nearby

Now you’re ready to add the spices
Mix it up!
Spread it out to get an even heat distribution
Using a cover keeps the heat and moisture in… even helps keeping a robust sense of flavor too 🙂
At this point the tofu has been cooked for about 8 minutes on medium high heat!
Here is at the 11 minute mark of medium high heat cooking. We’re done and ready to serve!
